Siemens Healthineers

Siemens Healthineers embraced distance communication during the pandemic in their new Bengaluru, India-based Innovation Hub.

Solution Benefits

  • Launching a new campus during the pandemic with numerous conference and collaboration spaces, breakout lounges and public areas, Siemens needed a system to tie it all together.
  • Xilica Solaro QR1s manage audio across the facility, linking signals by Dante backbone using standard Category cable.
  • HearClear AEC improves collaboration experience and employee productivity with immediate noise reduction and removal of echo.

Siemens Healthineers AG is a medical technology developer headquartered in Erlangen, Germany, which recently opened the Siemens Healthineers Innovation Hub in Bengaluru, India.

The campus features 70,000 square meters of office space and a 5,000 square meter manufacturing facility. A planned second construction phase will add another 114,000 square meters, transforming this into the company’s largest facility.

The facility‘s design represents the latest trends within corporate working environments, blending quality of life and staff safety with traditional business operations. A Working Café invites employees and visitors to conduct meetings in a casual environment, while green terraces between 38 to 53 meters in height house badminton and volleyball courts, and cricket pitches. The facility’s Innovation Hub is paramount to business operations, with 29 conference rooms to accommodate meetings of all sizes while supporting remote workers.

Challenge

As Siemens began exploring the fit-out of their new space, they were looking for individual room audio systems across each conference space and public area that could be more broadly networked, creating centralized routing and management capabilities as AV/IT convergence continues to evolve. Siemens wanted dedicated audio tools in each collaboration space that would support the quality of meetings with noise reduction and the elimination of echo, and enabled people to have a frictionless experience communicating – regardless of physical location.

Solution

Because the Innovation Lab’s conference rooms are utilized for a number of different types of gatherings, the project integrator equipped each space with a combination of bodypacks, headworn, and handheld wireless microphones. Each microphone is connected to a dedicated Xilica Solaro QR1, powered by PoE, to manage and route audio across the spaces. Using Dante networking technology for long-distance signal transport to datacenters around the building, the Xilica Solaro QR1 saved both cabling expense and the need for large, dedicated in-room AV racks.

Additionally, HearClear AEC in each Solaro QR1 processor eliminates echo during Microsoft Teams calls, and reduces background noise from disrupting communications. Integrated mute status sync to the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 products overhead mean “You’re on mute” is a thing of the past – current mute status can be visually displayed in the room, for all to see.

Impact

With an easy-to-configure, modular architecture, the Xilica Solaro QR1s futureproof Siemens’ investment in their infrastructure – allowing adjusted requirements in the future to be easily accommodated. Xilica HearClear acoustic echo cancellation guarantees clear, unencumbered communication between remote participants over Microsoft Teams, and supported by the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2, a great in-room experience for those looking to collaborate.
